Ireland - Top Of The Morning To Yer!

So, I'm in Dublin waiting for the plane to take me back to 'Ole Blighty.... That's England for those of you aren't jiggy with my lingo.  This will be an interesting blog as Emily is right over my shoulder watching as I type...

We have had a very busy, but fun, week driving around the country.  We had an interesting encounter with a cow... but there are some things that just have to stay private... if you know what I mean...

Some personal highlights were the many churches (ok, some of them were Cathedrals)  -  the detail in the architecture and stained glass windows is beyond amazing.... well, for me anyway... Emily couldn't give two dogs most of the time... she kept saying how they have lots of stuff like this in England.... it was pretty cool for a back of the woods Australian like me, though..

Anyway, I digress.... the Ring Of Kerry was amazing, as was the Aran island of Inish Mur.  Of course, I loved Cork and visiting Blarney Castle for the gift of eloquence that I received for kissing the stone...  Speaking of castles... Kilkenny Castle was beautiful and if I had been around 50+ years ago I could have bought it for 50 pounds!!! Bargain... But, unfortunately, I wasn't around and now the state owns it and have it open for visitors... I very much enjoyed hiking to the summit of the Slieve League mountains.  The views from the almost 2000ft (600m) heights were stunning.  We hiked up in mist and the visibility was virtually nil, but it cleared just as we peaked... it was awesome...

But if I was to say what the best thing was about Ireland.... hmm, it would be tough... but it would probably be hanging out with Emily again... we have spent a lot of time on skype and texting etc, but nothing beats the real thing...
